TV Tech in 2021: What You Need to Know

Sony TV

The annual Consumer Electronics Show may not have taken up any physical space in Las Vegas this year, but that didn’t keep the heavyweights in TV manufacturing from introducing a slew of new models for 2021.

The good news? Bigger screens and better technology are becoming even more affordable. The also good news? Buying a TV with cash back can be a major way to save money. If you’re in the market for a new set, make sure you start your browsing and buying at Green Back Street first! We’re partners with Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Sears, Newegg, HSN, among others, so your options are plentiful when it comes to finding the right TV at the right price.

In a nutshell, here’s what the major TV players are focusing on for 20221:

LG

LG’s OLED TVs have been the standard in premium picture quality for a good five years now, but always costing a small fortune. Fortunately, their prices continue to drop. The new G1-series of OLEDS will sit in the middle of LG’s OLED range and utilize the company’s new “evo” technology, promising a brighter picture—one of the few drawbacks to OLED TVs. LG is also touting its QNED LCD lineup, which uses mini-LEDs to craft a better picture.

Panasonic

Looking to return to its brilliant reputation earned during the plasma TV heyday, Panasonic’s showcasing new OLEDS this year, including the new JZ2000 TVs, arriving in 55- and 65-inch variants and featuring low latency, HDMI 2.1 variant and high refresh rates, and a new HCX Pro AI processor.

Samsung

Micro LED tech was the star of CES 20221 for Samsung, even if it’s not even close to being on the market yet. The company showed off a 110” model that, by all accounts, looked incredible. Otherwise, the Q900 Neo QLED series might be the most impressive from Samsung this year.

Sony

Sony is finally embracing gaming consoles as much as you’d they would, as makers of the PlayStation. All of Sony’s 2021 TVs will feature HDMI 2.1 ports, a feature that – among other things – lets gamers have faster response times from when they press a button on the controller to when the corresponding action happens on screen. On the OLED front, the Sony A90J Master Series OLED TV might be the new king of picture quality.

TCL

TCL’s rise among the TV titans looks continue in 2021 with cost-cutting models that come very close the picture quality levels of the more established brands. Although 8K content is incredibly rare, TCL is jumping on the bandwagon, with its 6-series 8K TVs using the company’s mini-LED technology.

Here at the Green Back Street headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida, we don’t get the chance to go ice fishing much, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see the rustic appeal of it all.

In fact, just last week we submerged a can of tuna in a pot of frozen water, just so we could experience the visceral thrill that comes with dropping down and jigging a little.

But if you have no shortage of sub-freezing temperatures in your neck of the woods, it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll hit the hard water this year.

How to Safely Do Your Holiday Shopping This Year

shop with cash back

With COVID-19 cases rising sharply, this holiday shopping season brings with it a slew of concerns and dangers. Besides mask-wearing, social distancing, and thorough handwashing, here are some ways you and your family can shop safely and minimize your health risks.

Shop online

This first one is obvious, of course. Shopping from home has always saved time and money, but now it’s the smartest way to stay healthy and help slow the spread of the virus. The experts say there is a very low risk of transmitting coronavirus via packages, but discarding them quickly and washing your immediately is the way to go.

Shop in-store at off hours

If you need to hit the stores in the coming weeks, mask up and try to hit the stores on weekday afternoons, when crowds are less daunting than on weekends and weeknights. And know that, the closer we get to Christmas, the more crowded the malls will be.

Use contactless credit cards

If you’re shopping in stores, a great way to reduce your virus risks is to use a contactless credit card. These are cards that let you avoid physical contact with cashiers or payment terminals. Wondering if your credit card is contactless? Look for a wave symbol on it or ask your card issuer.
